Job Description
Spectrum Healthcare Services, a healthcare staffing agency, is seeking Licensed Vocational Nurses for a facility in Carlsbad, TX. This is a 6-month contract assignment. We are looking for nurses who can work the full duration of the contract.
Nurses will be expected to attend EVERY day of New Employee Orientation and Nursing Education, Mon-Fri, 8a-5p for approximately 4 1/2-5 weeks. Attendance and punctuality are imperative during the orientation period.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides for the care, treatment, and general welfare of individuals who have intellectual disabilities, complex medical, mental health, and/or behavioral issues.
- Manages medication administration and treatment and provides medication education.
- Completes documentation and performs computer data entry.
- Collects specimens for lab work and performs health screenings.
- Instructs direct support professional and other staff on how to provide service and care that support the individuals' medical needs.
- Follows all policies and procedures.
- Assists RNs with implementation of protocols, procedures and programs to improve overall health and safety of staff and individuals.
- Works under the limited supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Length: 6-month minimum
Shift: 2:00p-10:30p, 10:00p-6:30a / rotating weekends
Weekly Hours: 40
Hourly Rate: $32.00 hr.
Job Requirements
- Unencumbered license in TX
- Must have at least 2 yrs experience in nursing in an acute, mental or behavioral health or a LTC facility
- Prefer at least 1+ years of psychiatric nursing experience
- BLS certification through AHA required
